DETAILS: Oracle Forms & Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0)

Oracle Forms & Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0) has been released to Oracle Technology Network (OTN), My Oracle Support (MOS), and Oracle Software Delivery Cloud systems with the below release schedule.

Products Included

Oracle Forms & Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0) has been made available containing the following new product releases:

• Oracle Forms 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0)
• Oracle Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0)
  • Includes the Forms and Reports Builders, as well as the components necessary to test and deploy Forms and Reports applications designed in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1.
  • This installation media does not include Web Logic Server (WLS) which is required to be installed prior to the installation of this product. Refer to the Installation Guide for details.

Introduction

• Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 2 (11.1.2) only contains Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports. Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Portal, and Oracle Web Cache are not part of this release.
• This release uses and includes Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5) products. Oracle HTTP Server and Fusion Middleware Control are included in this release. Oracle WebLogic Server is a separate installation and thus includes functionality such as Weblogic Administration Console. Initial certification for this release has been performed with Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.5.
• If requiring a single sign on solution, this release depends on separately installed Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5) products such as Oracle Identity Management and Oracle Access Manager (OAM). More information on this release can be obtained from Note 1316076.1, - "Announcing Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0)".
• Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 2 (11.1.2) provides a new installation feature providing two different installation types, Deployment Mode or Development Mode. Note that once installation type is chosen, you cannot change it later.
  • Development Mode provides a simpler installation and uses less memory, but cannot be used for production. This mode will only install Oracle Forms and Reports.
  • With Deployment Mode installation, you now have the option of using the new OAM 11g for SSO, installed separately, or using your pre-existing SSO 10g. Use OAM 11g if you are using SSO for the first time with this release. This mode will also install Oracle HTTP Server and Fusion Middleware Control
• In addition to new features and bug fixes for Forms and Reports, this release provides a simpler alternative for doing a fresh installation of 11g. Until this release, you would install 11g R1 (11.1.1.2) and apply Patch Sets to reach the latest. By installing 11g R2 (11.1.2) the 11.1.1.5 components are installed without the need for installing Patch Sets.
• There is a one year grace period to plan an update to a new Patch Set release in order to maintain Premier Support with error correction. For more information on the Error Correction Policy dates for each release, see Note 1290894.1.

Oracle Forms and Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.0.0) is installed with underlying Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0) components into a Middleware home with a certified Oracle WebLogic Server version. (Originally with 10.3.5). Key features of this release are:

• Enhanced Performance Monitoring and Metrics
