SYMPTOMS

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 12.2.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
"Checked for relevance on 04-Aug-2017"

When running a report in Oracle Reports 12c v. 12.2.1.0, it errors with:

REP-69: An internal error occurred
REP-56132: Access is denied to the report definition file.

CAUSE

The absence of the RDF/JSP report's location in the REPORTS_PATH.

SOLUTION

1. Add the RDF/JSP report's location to the REPORTS_PATH in the reports.sh or the sourcedir in the rwserver.conf.

The reports.sh can be found in the following directory:

   $DOMAIN_HOME/reports/bin/reports.sh

The rwserver.conf can be found in the following directory:

For standalone report server:
$DOMAIN_HOME/config/fmwconfig/components/ReportsServerComponent//rwserver.conf

For inprocess server (ie. rep_wls_reports_hostName):
$DOMAIN_HOME/config/fmwconfig/servers/WLS_REPORTS/applications/reports_12.2.1/configuration/rwserver.conf

2. Restart WLS_REPORTS and the report server or inprocess server being used for the change(s) to take effect.
