SOLUTION

Forms / Reports 6i + patchset 16 or patchset 17 was certified to work against Oracle Server (RDBMS) 10g Rel 1 (10.1.x)

Forms / Reports 6i has never been certified, nor will it ever be certified against Oracle Server (RDBMS) 10g Rel 2 (10.2.x) or Oracle Server (RDBMS) 11g (11.x).

 

 Forms / Reports 6i is  de-supported

- If running in client-server mode, Forms / Reports 6i was desupported at end of January 2005
- If deploying over the web, Forms / Reports 6i (Oracle 9iAS Rel 1 Forms / Reports Services) was desupported at the end of June 2004

This means that Forms / Reports development will no longer provide  error correction service for Forms / Reports 6i (unless an organization has purchased extended maintenance support) Therefore, Oracle strongly recommends that customers using desupported versions upgrade to a supported version e.g upgrade to Oracle Developer Suite 10g Rel 1 or 2 / Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 1 or 2

There are inherent issues that exist in using the Developer 6i/RDBMS 9i and Developer 6i/RDBMS 10g combinations so these combinations were never certified. One of the reasons was due to the incompatibility imposed by the Developer 6i's 8.0.6 RSF's (required support files) used. This triggered the one-off RDBMS patch: PATCH:5192908 where only the sqlnet, sqlplus and RSF were to be applied ONLY to the client-side (ie. not database) to upgrade the Developer 6i's RSF's to v. 8.0.6.3.13

The ideal and certified combination when the product was still supported was the Developer 6i/RDBMS 8i combination as that was thoroughly tested internally by the Certify Team.
